Are mortgage rates going up?

Are Mortgage rates going up? That seems to be the question on a lot of folks minds right now. With the Fed talking about raising interest rates, what does all of this chatter mean for home mortgage rates?

I met with one of my lender partners, Travis Waters, from Union Home Mortgage (UHM) to pick his brain on all of it. Of course, we tried to keep the content as lively as it can be for such a numbers-focused discussion lol :) and as short and sweet as we possibly could as well.

Off camera, Travis explained it to me in greater depth. Truth be told, I had no idea that the Fed's interest rates do not automatically change mortgage rates. Sure, they tend to go hand in hand, and there is absolutely correlation there. However, they truly are two separate numbers. That kind of blew my mind!

In the end, none of us have that crystal ball. However, there are some tell tale signs that point to increases on the horizon. However, we still remain at historical low rates across the board.
